Trolling Valve for PRM gearboxes
 |
This essential devise gives you total control of your propeller speed - from 1200
rpm down to zero, and fits all the units in the PRM range from the PRM 260 upwards.
The traditional mechanical Trolling Valve operates by draining oil from the
cooling system of a gearbox and forcing it to 'slip.' Unfortunately, this
causes the unit to rapidly overheat, and so can only be used in relatively short
bursts.
|
The PRM Trolling Valve however, is an electrically operated proportional valve that works by reducing the operating oil pressure of the clutch. No oil is lost from the cooling system and so the unit can operate continuously, if necessary, giving you far more control over your craft. Operated from a joystick at the helm, and hermetically sealed from both fresh and salt water, the unit is supplied with a micro switch that will automatically turn off the Trolling Valve when the engine speed exceeds 1200 rpm.
It comes in 12-volt and 24-volt versions.
